Joseph Kim is a tennis player on the rise. Performing well and showing serious composure Joseph was able to bring home the B12 Singles Championship after being down early in the championship match. To add icing to the cake Joseph was awarded the Sportsmanship Award to recognize not only his stellar play but his positive attitude on the court and with other competitors.
Joseph knows that his game can only go as far as his athletic ability and that is why he chose to come to FAST in 2022 to hone his skills. Coach Danny has worked with Joseph week in and week out building up his body control and balance, reaction time, rotational strength and overall explosiveness of his movements. In order to play tennis at the highest levels you need endurance and an insane amount of athletic ability.
When asked about Josephs recent win and overall progress Coach Danny said "I wish I had more kids like Joseph. He really understands what it takes to compete. Joseph knows what he wants out of his tennis game and every time he comes in to train he listens and works super hard focusing on all the little things we are trying to accomplish. Consistency has been the key to success and because he shows up rain or shine his game has improved vastly. We have a big tournament coming up in California soon and we are hoping he can make a deep run there and show everyone what he is capable of."
We caught up with Joseph himself to speak to him about his win and he said "Well I have been playing up a lot in recent tournaments so getting a win has been difficult. I was super happy to be able to bring home a championship this time out. Winning and being awarded the Sportsmanship Award just kinda reinforces that my hard work is paying off. Coach Danny has really helped me elevate my game and when I step on the court I feel confident and prepared knowing that I have put in the work necessary to win."
We also asked him what he loved about training at FAST and he said this "I love the positive atmosphere and how everyone who is there is looking to advance their game. They have some unique equipment there to help tennis players and other athletes excel and most importantly the training works! Coach Danny is fun to train with and always gives me new challenges and things to work on."
FAST would like to say congratulations to Joseph on a well earned win and we look forward to seeing him bring home many more in the near future.
